Catalyst Counseling welcomes inquiries of all backgrounds and aspires to respect cultural, individual and role differences. Psychotherapy Services

To help us decide if we’re the right fit for each other, I request that prospective clients meet with me for a complementary 15-minute consultation, to briefly review what is bringing you to therapy and what your hopes are for being in treatment. If we both agree that I could be helpful to you, we will move to the next step of scheduling the initial intake appointment.
This first appointment typically lasts about an hour and is designed in a way that allows me to better understand the issues bringing you to therapy, your current challenges and what your experiences have been throughout your life. In beginning to gain this broad understanding, I am able to take a step back, reflect and consider all the factors that might play even the slightest part in how you see the world today. This session is also a time for you to ask questions, get a feel for my style and approach and learn more about what ongoing therapy might look like.
Again, the initial intake appointment is not a typical therapy session—it’s truly an opportunity to gather information, begin building a foundation for the therapeutic relationship and gain clarity of your goals for therapy. If we still believe that we’ll be able to do good work together, we’ll move forward with scheduling regular therapy sessions. If it’s decided that you would be best served by a different therapist, I will help guide you toward other resources or providers who may be a better fit.
With ongoing therapy sessions, you will be asked to work on things discussed in therapy not only in session, but between appointments as well. These tasks might include things such as practicing skills learned in session related to stress reduction, emotion regulation or interpersonal effectiveness. These assignments are essential aspects of your treatment, can support your growth in therapy and support my ability to be helpful to you.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy, also known as psychotherapy or “talk therapy,” is a one-on-one, confidential process that supports clients in addressing emotional, psychological and behavioral challenges. It provides a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences with a trained mental health professional. A strong emphasis is placed on building a trusting, collaborative relationship, where confidentiality is respected and upheld, while your active involvement, authenticity and vulnerability enables you to get the most out of therapy. The therapeutic process often includes setting clear, achievable goals and tracking progress over time, using evidence-based techniques to support lasting personal growth and emotional resilience. With this being said, individual therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach; rather, it is a dynamic and flexible process that is able to evolve as your needs shift.

Sometimes in-person appointments at the office can add another layer of stress. Perhaps you reside outside the greater Rochester area, cannot leave your loved ones unattended at home, your symptoms make it difficult to leave the house, time constraints make it near impossible to set aside time for travel and an appointment, or any other number of situations.
Evening telemedicine appointments are available for individuals 18+ residing in New York State and are conducted using a secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platform.
Clinical Consultation
I offer professional clinical consultation for mental health clinicians seeking support, guidance or a fresh perspective on their clinical work. Whether you’re navigating complex cases, ethical concerns, clinical decision-making or looking to deepen your therapeutic skills, this service is ideal for both new and seasoned clinicians looking for ongoing support or occasional input on specific challenges. Consultations are designed to be collaborative, practical and reflective—supporting you in integrating theory with practice, enhancing clinical judgment and building confidence in your work.
Finding the right clinical consultant can be a challenge—and it’s a decision that needs to be well thought out. The fit should support not only your professional growth, but also who you are as an individual and clinician. My consultation approach is grounded in years of front-line clinical and supervisory expertise and is rooted in a commitment to ethical, professional and quality client-centered care.

Immigration Evaluations

Immigration Evaluations are specialized mental health assessment that can provide crucial support in immigration cases by documenting the psychological and emotional impact of a person’s experiences. These evaluations are often used in cases such as asylum, VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) petitions, U-visas, T-visas and extreme hardship waivers, among others.
At Catalyst Counseling, I provide trauma-informed, culturally sensitive immigration evaluations that are carefully tailored to the legal and emotional needs of each client. My assessments are grounded in clinical expertise, a deep understanding of trauma refugees’ experiences and the immigration process.
Each evaluation includes a comprehensive exploration of how past trauma, persecution, abuse or family separation has affected an individual’s mental health—often focusing on symptoms related to PTSD, depression and anxiety. The final report is written with both the client’s well-being and the legal context in mind, offering clear, evidence-based insights.
Whether you are an individual seeking support or an attorney looking for a trusted provider, I am happy to answer any questions you may have about the evaluation process. Please call or email me to learn more or to schedule a consultation.
Insurance & Payment
I offer In-Network and Out-Of-Network coverage with a limited number of insurance companies. I am able to offer a Superbill for Out-Of-Network clients who are interested in seeking reimbursement from their insurance company. Please contact me to determine what insurance coverage you may be able to use.
It’s important to know that in order to use insurance, insurance companies require an active behavioral health diagnosis. Insurance companies also have the right to request documentation related to your treatment, at any point in therapy.
Self-Pay is also available. Individuals may opt to pay privately when they do not meet criteria for a diagnosis, do not wish for their treatment information to be shared with their insurance company, are uninsured or underinsured, have Out-Of-Network insurance coverage, don’t want to make one person the “identified patient” in relationship therapy, want to attend therapy as frequently as desired and/or determine they are unlikely to meet their deductible with high deductible insurance plans.
You may inquire about financial hardship exceptions, as a limited number of sliding-scale slots are available based on income and financial situation.
Payment is due in full at the time of the session. I accept all Major Credit/Debit Cards, as well as Health Saving Accounts (HSA) and Flex Spending Accounts (FSA).
